How to emerge from sadness.

Call me strange but I strongly doubt I'm the only person out there that hated it when others try to make me smile when I'm feeling down. It's a rather strange phenomenon that I can't really explain but when I am sad, most times; I just want to be left alone to wallow in my self pity.

That was absolutely no fun.

Recently my views have changed on the whole subject, don't get me wrong now; this doesn't mean I'm looking for a saviour to charge in with tickle fingers ready and waiting to plunge under my armpits and the soles of my feet until I laugh so hard I burst a blood vessel. No.
What I'm basically saying is, yes, we will get sad at times but it really doesn't mean we should embrace it. Worse, we shouldn't push away the ones that truly care for us and want to see us smile.

Genuine happiness doesn't just show on our faces, it shows in our actions as well and we've all been told that our ACTIONS speaks volumes louder than our WORDS. Happiness makes us nicer people so if you're sad at the moment I hope my post cheers you up. So lets get down to business, what do you do when you feel sad or down or depressed or low in spirit, or any other word that has that sort of effect? It's quite simple really, you SHAKE IT OFF. I know you're thinking, "that's it?!, She got me reading just to tell me to shake it off?" Yes I did, because soon you'll realize that's all there is to it.

Here are three easy steps to help you emerge from sadness:

  • Say a prayer- it doesn't have to be the longest and most eloquent prayer but pray for the sick and the less fortunate and even the fortunate too, so they'd be happy enough to give a hand to charity.
  • Go to your comfort zone- do the things that make you happy, get your travel pack ready and head to the beach. Read that novel you have sitting on the shelf gathering dust or get your hands dirty and bake that sweet chocolate cake for dessert and surprise the family.
  • Do something nice for someone-yes, you'll be surprised just how good you'll feel once you realize you've made someone else's frown turn upside down.
I hope you find these useful and if you do, share it with a pal and let them share it, with another pal.
Happiness is not all about riches, if we really pay close attention to life it all boils down to the little things.

Until next time...
